Road Safety Coordination Group

The Northern Territory Government is committed to making our roads safer.

In 2006 the Northern Territory Government established the Road Safety Taskforce to develop initiatives to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on Territory roads. Later that year, the Taskforce made 21 recommendations aimed at changing our road use culture.

Recommendation 21 approved the establishment of the Road Safety Coordination Group (RSCG), which replaces the previous Road Safety Council.

The RSCG provides strategic advice regarding road safety to the Ministers for Transport, Infrastructure and Police, Fire and Emergency Services. The group oversees the implementation of all the road safety reforms and is responsible for developing a Northern Territory Road Safety Strategy.

The RSCG meets approximately four times per year.
